But its latest release, "Deadpool & Wolverine," is now the second highest-grossing film of the year, after the animated movie "Inside Out 2," which earned $1.6 billion globally.
Amid the success of "Deadpool & Wolverine," Marvel has made multiple announcements that have capitalized on the renewed interest, including the return of beloved actor Robert Downey Jr. Most recently, it was announced that Tom Holland's fourth stand-alone "Spider-Man" film will hit theaters in summer 2026.
Here's what to know about Marvel's upcoming releases.
The following list contains Marvel theatrical release dates known as of October 25, 2024. It will be updated as new releases are confirmed.

February 14, 2025: "Captain America: Brave New World"
Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is the new Captain America in the fourth film of the franchise.
He'll be facing off against multiple villains, including Red Hulk (aka Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross). Harrison Ford is taking over as Ross after the original actor, William Hurt, died in 2022 of complications from prostate cancer.
Based on the first trailer, Ross is now the president and trying to force Captain America to be a government ally.
Sam will also face off against the Serpent Society, a supervillain organization with snake-themed powers, led by Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito).
"The Incredible Hulk" actors Tim Blake Nelson and Liv Tyler are reprising their roles as The Leader and Betty Ross, respectively. The main Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) seems to be absent from the movie.
Shira Haas will play the superhero Sabra, while Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly will reprise their roles from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."
Director Julius Onah ("The Cloverfield Paradox") described the sequel as a thriller. The film was formerly called "Captain America: New World Order."
May 2, 2025: "Thunderbolts*"
While we await the next "Avengers" movie, Marvel is releasing a new antihero group next year.
The Thunderbolts are a ragtag bunch of characters we've seen introduced in various movies and Disney+ shows. Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) will all star in the upcoming movie. The group seems like Marvel's version of the Suicide Squad.
The plot of "Thunderbolts*" is still largely unknown, but it likely involves the new hero introduced in the film, Sentry (Lewis Pullman). In the comics, Sentry is one of the most powerful heroes.
Geraldine Viswanathan is playing an undisclosed character, while Ford will reprise his role as Ross in the movie.
July 25, 2025: "The Fantastic Four: First Steps"
Marvel's first superhero family is finally coming to the MCU.
"WandaVision" director Matt Shakman will direct the reboot, which stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
The Fantastic Four will face off against the planet-eating alien Galactus (Ralph Inerson) and his herald, a female version of the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) known as Shalla-Bal.
At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Kevin Feige and Shakman announced the film will take place in a technologically advanced version of 1960s New York. This means that the movie probably won't be set on Earth-616, which is the main timeline where most of the MCU films occur.
But the Fantastic Four will return in the next "Avengers" movie, which means they'll interact with the main heroes soon.
May 1, 2026: "Avengers: Doomsday"
Originally, the next "Avengers" movie was going to center on Jonathan Majors' villain, Kang. But Marvel fired him after Majors was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Now, the film seems to be setting up the Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom as the next major "Avengers" threat.
Doom has yet to be introduced in the MCU, but Marvel announced at SDCC in July that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise to play a version of Doom.
With this new villain, it seems more likely that Marvel is adapting two major events from Marvel comics in 2015 and 2016, "Time Runs Out" and "Secret Wars."
Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed the last two "Avengers" movies, will direct both "Doomsday" and "Secret Wars."
July 24, 2026: "Spider-Man 4"
Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the fourth "Spider-Man" film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (who also did "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings") and set for release two months after "Doomsday."
"I read it three weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me," Holland said. "Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, 'This is a real movie worthy of the fans' respect.' But there's a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going."
Holland also told "Good Morning America" that the idea for the film is "a little different to anything we've done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it."
This film will likely close out phase six and will wrap up the Multiverse saga, pushing Marvel into a new age.
TBD: "Blade"
Marvel's long-delayed "Blade" reboot is still stuck in development.
The film was first announced at SDCC in 2019, with Mahershala Ali taking over as the human/vampire hybrid Blade. Wesley Snipes originally played Blade in a movie trilogy that launched in 1998.
In June, THR reported, citing unnamed sources, that Mia Goth is the only other actor still attached to the film after the script underwent multiple changes over the last three years. The movie has no director after Bassam Tariq left in 2022 and Yann Demange dropped out in June.
THR also reported, citing unnamed sources, that Eric Pearson, who worked on "Thunderbolts*" and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," is writing a new draft for the film.
The movie was set to release on November 7, 2025. However, in October, it was pulled from Disney's release calendar and replaced with "Predator: Badlands."
There are also seven untitled Marvel movies on the calendar, one of which will likely be "Armor Wars."
According to Disney's updated release calendar from October 2024, there are seven more untitled Marvel movies in development through 2028.
In September 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported, citing an unnamed source, that Don Cheadle's Disney+ series, "Armor Wars," will be turned into a movie. It could be one of the untitled films. (The studio has not officially confirmed an "Armor Wars" film, and neither has Cheadle.)
A sequel for "Shang-Chi," "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther," or "Thor" could also be released on one of these dates.
Below are the dates attached to these untitled films:
